Trygve John is that rare thing, a ‘helden’ tenor with a strong sense of lyricism. He is thoroughly at home in a wide repertoire – opera, oratorio, art song, and pop. I have greatly enjoyed listening to his “Che Gelida Manina”, his singing of Stainer’s Crucifixion, not to mention his wonderful ‘Elvis’ renditions.
